National Ammonia caters to every customer’s need by manufacturing different quantities and packaging sizes that the market requires.

Market Leadership

Narrowed competition in the specialty fertilizer manufacturing business has put National Ammonia in the lead.

National Ammonia is serving a unique niche in the fertilizer market and forecasts show higher sales and exposure into new markets.

Facilities and Plants

National Ammonia owns and operates a chemical plant in the port city of Aqaba. Aqaba was chosen for the location because of its value as a port and for the close proximity and availability of raw materials needed for production, therefore cutting down on manufacturing time and transportation costs.

The Plant uses concentrated phosphoric acid and anhydrous ammonia gas in its manufacturing and it is divided into three separate manufacturing units: the ammonia unit, the solid and the fluid fertilizer units. Each unit has a separate set of machines requiring specific operating instructions and caters to different customer segments.

The assignment of Aqaba as a Special Economic Zone will greatly benefit National Ammonia as cost of customs and government fees currently incurred on raw materials and packaging will be significantly reduced.

National Ammonia head offices and warehousing facilities are located in Amman.

Looking Ahead

Optimal output for every plant size is crucial for the effectiveness of the plant’s production.

1998 saw market demand for fertilizers increase drastically beyond the production capacity of the plant, causing a loss in profitability. This led National Ammonia’s Board of Directors and management team to decide on an expansion project, inaugurated in January 2001.

This expansion will allow National Ammonia to supply the market with sufficient and improved product quality.

In addition, new machinery acquired as part of this expansion will allow National Ammonia to cut down on its manufacturing coast by enabling us to produce some of our raw materials.
